Although
many people think she is Swedish, due to the fact that she's a recording
artist and film actress in that country, Izabella Scorupco was born
in Poland. While spending some time in New York pursuing acting
opportunies in 1989, it was her career as a fashion model that brought
Izabella Scorupco to the attention of photographer Steve Landis.
"I always enjoy meeting and working with talented new models
or actors of promise. Top swimsuit models and female fitness
models have nothing on Izabella,
an avid exerciser. I believe she is one of the most physically
fit actresses in the business and one of the true beauty faces.
Had she seriously wanted to pursue any aspect of modeling, she would
have been very successful. The problem was she has many talents,
she had just recorded an album, and was already appearing in feature
films in Europe. Izabella Scorupco really didn't have time to devote
to fashion modeling. One of my favorite female glamour models,
Izabella Scorupco is a gem.
Izabella
Scorupco was photographed by Steve Landis using Tri-x 120 film exposed
in a Mamiya RB67 camera body with a 180mm lens. Film was processed
by hand, and printed on Ilford paper at Lab One in New York.
Barbara Sansone did Izabella's make-up.
About
the photographer . .
New York based, Steve Landis likes shooting fine art, female glamour
photography on location. Creating simple but powerful images are
trademarks of Landis' work. Famous photographers that have
influenced his work, include Helmut Newton, Lucien Clerge, Richard
Avedon and Arthur Elgort. Over the years, Steve feels
fortunate to have been able to meet each of those photographers.
They all have completely different approaches to their use of female
models, but share general ideals of beauty and use black and white
photography in a rich way.
